Players will putt with 12-foot gimmies (TrackMan) or 10-foot gimmies (Full Swing)
The Spring Season is a no handicap event. Rather, all teams make the playoffs. Teams in the social division will compete in the playoffs against all other teams at their location. Teams in the competitive division will compete in the playoffs against all teams nationally.
Play runs for 6 weeks, with 5 weeks of regular season, and 1 week of playoffs
Males and Females will each play a tee box decided by Five Iron for each course specifically, decided week to week. Males generally will play from a tee box that is the 2nd or 3rd longest tee box, depending on the course. Females generally will play from the most forward tee box on the course, with the exception of courses that offer junior tee boxes.
Males over the age of 65 will be allowed to play from the next shortest tee box of where the male teams are playing that week. The same will be true for women over the age of 65 if there is a tee box that is further up. If women are playing from the shortest tee box offered on that course then all women will play from the same distance.
Each week on Friday, a newsletter will be sent out detailing the next week’s course, format, drink specials, and prizes.
Each week teams will come in at their designated time and be directed to their simulator
Teams will be given scorecards and set up for the round by the local league coordinator
Once your round is finished, make sure to leave the scorecard up on the screen so the staff can verify your score
Each week your team’s score will be your score to par for that week. (i.e. if you scored -2 the first week and then -4 the second week, you season score would be -6)
The Tiebreaker is:
Total of the last 6 holes
Total of the last 3 holes
Total of the last hole
Sudden Death Matchplay from the last hole backwards
In the result that there is still a tie after these measures, the winner will be the team with the better overall season score at that point.
If there is still a tie after this, whoever had the lowest score in week 1 is the winner, if the same then the best score in week 2 is the winner, etc. until a winner is decided.
After the regular season comes to an end, all teams will advance to the playoffs during week 6. Teams can gains strokes in the playoffs based on their position on the regular season leaderboard, laid out here:
1st and 2nd place team nationally: Starts tournament round at -3
3rd, 4th, and 5th place team nationally: Start tournament at -2
6th, 7th, and 8th place team nationally: Start tournament at -1
In the event of a tie on the leaderboard at the end of the regular season, team scores will be compared week by week starting at week 5 and going backwards. If a team scored lower in week 6 – they will be placed in the higher spot. If the teams tied in week 5, week 4 scores will be compared, to decide the higher position, etc…
In the playoffs – teams will compete in the 3 ball best ball format. The top 8 finishing teams in the playoffs will advance to the National Championship on July 2nd, 2024. The National Championship will be held in the 3 ball best ball format, over 9 holes. If there is a tie after the 9 holes, a sudden death playoff will be held. Finally – our National Champion will be headed down to Casa de Campo for the trip of a lifetime!
Teams are only eligible to win one National Championship prize per calendar year. If the same team wins the National Championship in multiple seasons within the same year, the prize will be awarded to the next best team on the leaderboard.
After the regular season comes to an end, there will be playoff week during week 6. Teams in the social division will compete against all other teams in their location – and the winner will take home an Open bar event for 20 people, in 2 simulators, for 2 hours!
In the event of a tie, teams will enter a scorecard playoff. The Tiebreaker is:
Total of the last 6 holes
Total of the last 3 holes
Total of the last hole
Sudden Death Matchplay from the last hole backwards
There are Closest to the Pin prizes for teams in each location every week of the season!
On week 1 all players will have the chance to take one shot at hitting it tight on the 7th hole of Teeth of the Dog. Teams will have a chance to compete in this either before, during, or after their round
The local league coordinator will set everyone up on the competition – and the winner will be on their way down to Casa de Campo for a trip for 2!
Every free agent and team who has signed up on or before 5/13 and has paid their entry fee before the first week of the competition
Five Iron Staff are welcome to play in any league season – but they, and their team, will be disqualified from any prizing associated with the league
Any team with 5i staff members advancing to the playoffs/national championship will be replaced with the next best team on the leaderboard
All players are expected to use the simulator properly and adhere to the Five Iron Golf Tour rules and regulations.
