Kang began playing golf at the age of 14 and quickly began competing in AJGA, IJGT, and Met PGA junior events. After returning to South Korea during high school, he earned his Korean Tour Professional license by the age 21 and spent six years instructing golfers of all ages at both the Joong-Ang Golf Center and Golfzon Castle while competing in G Tour events. After a brief hiatus from the game, Kang returned to the U.S. in 2022, joined Harbor Links Golf Course, and continues to coach with a focus on junior golf camps and players of all skill levels.
