The Trackman Difference
An Introduction to the Technology and Software Powering Improvement at 5i.
Golf is a game of inches…bet you’ve never heard that one before. Unfortunately, it’s (painfully) true. We’d even argue it’s a game of millimeters! Golf is beautiful, and frustrating, because the tiniest tweak can make a massive difference. Shift the ball in your stance an inch, open the clubface a hair, tee the ball a fraction higher — and suddenly you’ve either flushed it down the middle or sent it a full zip code over.
The biggest challenge with so many tweaks at your disposal (and let’s admit it, these changes aren’t always conscious) is knowing exactly what movement, change, position, or otherwise, caused a difference in any one particular swing. This is where technology, data, and numbers come into play in a big way. And in today’s game, there’s no better place to get those datapoints than with a Trackman launch monitor.
At Five Iron Golf, every one of our indoor golf simulator bays features a Trackman launch monitor setup — the same system trusted by the world’s best players, coaches, and club fitters. Whether you’re here to work on your swing, join a league, or just have a blast with friends, you’ve got tour-level technology tracking every shot. This isn’t just about hitting into a screen — it’s about diving into the data and using it to get better, faster… while enjoying every step along the way.
So What is Trackman Golf?
Used for sports like baseball, too, at its core, Trackman for golf is a combination of radar and high-speed camera technology that follows your shot from tee to fairway(…or green…or bunker….or rough, etc.). It measures exactly what the club is doing at impact, what the ball is doing in flight, and how those two are connected. The result is a crystal-clear picture of your golf swing, broken down into dozens of easy-to-read data points.
TrackMan 4 is a fully-integrated technological experience combining the latest Trackman launch monitor PGA Tour pros use on the driving range plus the latest version of software from Trackman Performance Studio, or TPS. Every swing benefits from dual radar and a high-speed camera system to measure everything from ball speed to spin axis with insane precision. This combination makes our facilities at Five Iron feel like a professional-grade training ground with plenty of bells and whistles to also be considered a golfer’s playground.
