Erick fell in love with playing the game of golf at a young age and immediately knew he wanted to work in it, helping non-golfers and golfers alike to learn and improve. After graduating from Methodist University in 1994, where he obtained a degree in Business Administration with a Concentration in Golf Management, he became a PGA of America member in 2000 and began his career as a full-time golf instructor. Erick has been the Head PGA Golf Professional and Director of Instruction at Sparrows Point Country Club for the past eighteen years before joining the Five Iron team in Baltimore. With over twenty-five years of experience teaching and understanding the game of golf, Erick is ready to show golfers of all skill levels how you can enhance your golf experience and enjoyment of the game.

Link Yu is an Associate Golf Pro at Five Iron Golf’s Baltimore location. He passed his PGA Player Ability Test in 2021 and is working towards finishing up his PGA program. He started playing the game of golf competitively since junior league. After graduating from the University of Minnesota with bachelor degrees in Computer Science and Statistics, Link decided to pursue a career in golf. He has adopted a statistical & scientific approach to golf instruction, using data driven analytics to help his students improve their game. This teaching style is rooted in his early golf development. Link’s first golf instructor was the number two ranked player on the Chinese tour, and as his game has matured, he has worked with some of the most talented golfers in the business, including coaches from the European and PGA tour. Each of these instructors helped Link develop outstanding mechanics and swing fundamentals. For Link, teaching golf is more than helping players improve their game, it’s about giving back to the game he loves. He is eager to share his knowledge of golf and inspire others to find their passion for the game.
Katie started playing golf at the age of four and after traveling the country as a junior and young adult golfer, she turned professional in 2009. She started her career in Illinois with the Peoria Park District, instructing hundreds of adults and juniors and training with young adults as they prepared for the Illinois Special Olympics. In 2011, Katie moved to Kenya and helped grow Golf for Kids Kenya by introducing the game and its value to children and their parents. After a bout with Typhoid brought Katie back to the states, she moved to Baltimore in 2013 to become the Ladies’ Golf Professional at Baltimore Country Club. It was after 8 seasons there and through the LPGA that Katie truly found her passion for Player Development. “There is not much more satisfying to me than being by someone’s side as they fall in love with golf! I could play Cupid with golf for the rest of my life.”
