QUALIFYING KICKS OFF 3/7 | BRACKET ANNOUNCED 3/24

HOW IT WORKS…

March Match Play is a single-elimination match play tournament. Qualifying rounds kick off on 3/7 and run through 3/22. Players can complete up to 3 qualifying rounds during the qualifying period, after which the top 124, as well as the final 4 from the previous year, are placed on a bracket. Players who advance to the bracket stage then battle over 4 rounds to claim their spot in the Final 8 and earn a trip to Casa De Campo in the Dominican Republic to compete for the title of National Champion!!

HOW TO WIN…

1. SIGN UP

Secure your spot by signing up in time to complete up to the 3 allowed qualifying attempts by 3/22 before the top 128 bracket is announced 3/24!

– Saturday Morning 8-10am | 3/9 and 3/16
– Sunday Night 8-10pm | 3/10 and 3/17

Qualifying times subject to availability – select your qualifying window during registration.

2. COMPETE

Players must compete at least one qualifying round during the qualifying period. At the end of the qualifying period, the top 124 qualifiers plus the 4 finalists from last season will be placed into a bracket. During the bracket stage, matches do not have to be played concurrently, allowing you to play each round with a sim rental that fits your schedule. Team 5i will set you up and your scorecard will automatically be submitted to the Commissioner who will do that math for you and determine who moves on!

3. CASA DE CAMPO, BABY!

The Final 8 players will enjoy a trip down to Casa De Campo in the Dominican Republic to compete for the championship! Players will complete the final rounds outdoors in the Dominican Republic to decide the March Match Play Champion! The elite 8 will also have their sticks shipped south for them courtesy of Ship Sticks.

Overview

The March Matchplay is an individual match play tournament. Players who enter will have a ~2 week period to complete qualifying round(s) after signing up and making payment for the tournament. During this period they can complete up to 3 qualifying rounds for the tournament, which can be completed during the designated qualifying times for no charge. Players are also able to complete their qualifying rounds outside of these times but will need to cover the cost of their bay rental After the qualifying period, the top 124 will be entered into a bracket based on their scores from the first round (the 4 finalists from last year will receive automatic entry and top seeds in the bracket). Then they will post scores week to week until either they are eliminated, or advance to the Final 8. A newsletter will be sent out to all players before the tournament explaining the qualifying instructions. Then after the qualifiers are done, an email will be sent to all players saying who advanced, and if they did advance, how to join the first round, and the course we will be playing. After the first week – a newsletter will be sent out each Monday with the results of the previous week and the information including the course for the next round.

    • During the bracket stage – players only get 1 attempt at the 18 hole round
  • The March Match-Play is a no handicap event.
  • Any player who does not complete their round in the established window of the tournament will forfeit their round to the opponent, and the opponent will advance.
  • During qualifying, you will be playing against the whole field to try and advance to the bracket stage – so you will not be competing directly against one player.
  • Each week during the tournament following qualifying, an updated bracket and link to that week’s course will be shared via e-mail.
  • During the bracket stage, the weekly newsletter will be shared with all participants on Monday mornings allowing players to complete rounds through Sunday evening.
  • Tournament rounds must be played in the private TrackMan tournament event that is shared with all players prior to that week’s play.
  • Players should take an additional picture of their scorecard in addition to playing in the established round with their TrackMan account in case of technical difficulties. If players’ scorecards are not correctly uploaded and pictures are not shared, that players round will not count
  • Any rounds completed outside of the tournament week will not count toward that weeks round
  • If two or more players are tied for the final spot during the qualifying stage – there will be a scorecard playoff to decide the winner
  • This playoff will be held as sudden death match play scorecard playoff, starting from hole #1
    • For example, if 3 players are tied for the same score overall, we will check their scores on hole #1. If player 1 shot a birdie, player 2 shot a bogey, and player 3 shot a par, they would be placed on the leaderboard as:
      • #1 Player 1
      • #2 Player 3
      • #3 Player 2
    • If they are tied after the first hole, we will move on to the second hole, and so on, until we are able to sort each player to the correct seed
  • Scorecards will be compared against each other to determine the winner through a matchplay format where hole by hole scores will be matched to see who wins the match-up.
  • In the result of a tie, the tiebreaker will be a scorecard playoff on the basis of the total strokes for the total 18, last nine holes, last six holes, last three holes, or the last hole, until a winner is determined
    • In the result of a tie, the tiebreaker will be a sudden death playoff.
  • “Mulligans” will be allowed for technical issues and will be tracked as part of the tournament. Any mulligan used must be approved by a Five Iron staff member immediately after the technical issue
  • Each unapproved mulligan will result in a two-stroke penalty.
  • Players can only play 1 round during each bracket stage match
  • Five Iron will provide hotel accommodations for a maximum of 3 nights (During May-June, date to be decided once the round of 16 has ended) for all players advancing to the finals
    • Players are welcome to bring guests if they would like, but any costs associated with guests must be covered by the player
    • There will be room in your cabin for a guest if you decide to bring one
  • Players are provided a $250 travel voucher by Five Iron for airfare to Casa De Campo for the Elite 8.
  • Additional prizes from Five Iron and partners will be earned for advancing to Round of 64, round of 32, Sweet 16, Final 8, and winning the tournament
  • Players will receive prizes or credit equivalent for those prizes at the earliest date possible after players advance to that round.
  • All players are expected to use the simulator properly and adhere to the Five Iron Golf Tour rules and regulations.
  • Any attempts to manipulate the simulator as determined by the Five Iron Golf Tour in its sole discretion will be grounds for removal.
  • Teeing up the ball is only permitted on the first shot of every hole. A one stroke penalty will be assessed for any violations of this rule
  • This is a gross tournament so there are no handicaps involved. There are also no mulligans allowed – however the mulligans option will be turned on in case there are any technical issues. We will be able to check if mulligans were taken so please make sure that all mulligans are approved by a 5i staff member.
