FAQs
The Five Iron Golf Winter League will run for 10 weeks. There is 8 weeks of regular season, and 1 week of playoffs that everyone makes – plus teams can come in to play for fun on week 10 during the national championship!
The Winter League runs from 2/26 – 4/30
The tournament is open to everyone. Teams must have 4 players, but free agents and small groups can be matched up to complete the team.
* Five Iron Staff Members are able to join the league but will be exempt from all prizing
All players must complete registration through Leagueapps and pay the $500-$2000 registration fee (depending on location).
All teams will pick a time slot on either Monday or Tuesday night before the season starts (i.e. Monday 7pm). This will be your time slot for the full season.
Entry will include:
- 10 Weeks of Play Guaranteed
- Changing Food & Drink Specials each week
- Opportunity to win Closest-to-the-pin prizes
- The chance to compete in a CTP contest on week 1 to win a trip to Casa de Campo!
Teams will compete against other local teams as well as teams in their division across the country
Each week, teams will play 9 holes on a designated course with rotating formats
Players will putt with 12-foot gimmies (TrackMan) or 10-foot gimmies (Full Swing)
The winter Season is a no handicap event
Rather, all teams make the playoffs and are flighted based off of their position on the leaderboard – so everyone has a chance to win!
Play runs for 10 weeks, with 8 weeks of regular season, and 1 week of playoffs, plus an added week for fun in week 10
Males and Females will each play a tee box decided by Five Iron for each course specifically, decided week to week. Males generally will play from a tee box that is the 2nd or 3rd longest tee box, depending on the course. Females generally will play from the most forward tee box on the course, with the exception of courses that offer junior tee boxes.
Males over the age of 65 will be allowed to play from the next shortest tee box of where the male teams are playing that week. The same will be true for women over the age of 65 if there is a tee box that is further up. If women are playing from the shortest tee box offered on that course then all women will play from the same distance.
Each week on Friday, a newsletter will be sent out detailing the next week’s course, format, drink specials, and prizes.
Each week teams will come in at their designated time and be directed to their simulator
Teams will be given scorecards and set up for the round by the local league coordinator
Once your round is finished, make sure to leave the scorecard up on the screen so the staff can verify your score
Each week your team’s score will be your score to par for that week. (i.e. if you scored -2 the first week and then -4 the second week, you season score would be -6)
The Tiebreaker is:
Total of the last 6 holes
Total of the last 3 holes
Total of the last hole
Sudden Death Matchplay from the last hole backwards
In the result that there is still a tie after these measures, the winner will be the team with the better overall season score at that point.
If there is still a tie after this, whoever had the lowest score in week 1 is the winner, if the same then the best score in week 2 is the winner, etc. until a winner is decided.
The Flight 1 Winner from each location will advance to the national championship on 4/30
Plus, the top 3 teams in each division (Trackman and Full Swing), and the top 5 teams on the all women’s leaderboard in each division (Trackman and Full Swing) will advance the the national championship
There are prizes at each flight, so even if you aren’t competing for a spot in the national championship, there are still some great prizes to win.
On week 1 all players will have the chance to take one shot at hitting it tight on the 7th hole of Teeth of the Dog. Teams will have a chance to compete in this either before, during, or after their round
The local league coordinator will set everyone up on the competition – and the winner will be on their way down to Casa de Campo for a trip for 2!
Every free agent and team who has signed up on or before 2/26 and has paid their entry fee before the first week of the competition
Five Iron Staff is welcome to play in any league season – but they and their team will be disqualified from any prizing associated with the league.
Any team with 5i staff members advancing to the flight 1 playoffs will be replaced with the next best team on the leaderboard
All players are expected to use the simulator properly and adhere to the Five Iron Golf Tour rules and regulations.
Any attempts to manipulate the simulator as determined by the Five Iron Golf Tour in its sole discretion will be grounds for removal.
Teeing up the ball is only permitted on the first shot of every hole. A one stroke penalty will be assessed for any violations of this rule.
This season – we are bringing back our women’s division! All women’s teams will be competing on the same course for the same prizes every week – but there will be a separate women’s only leaderboard
The winner of the women’s league will win a trip to Casa De Campo with 4 nights and 6 rounds of golf! Details above
If you or your team need to miss a league round – there are a couple of options that we have listed here:
- You are welcome to bring a substitute to fill in for any regular season league round.
- Teams are able to reschedule two regular season league rounds at no extra charge. If you need to do this, make sure to reach out to your local league coordinator with your preferred day/time to reschedule the round to.
Any rounds rescheduled after the two free rounds have been used will cost 50% of the simulator rental fee
