The Assistant General Manager of Golf and Social works closely with the General Manager to provide an engaging, high-energy environment where guests enjoy top-tier hospitality and memorable experiences. This role is ideal for a leader with hospitality management experience who also has a passion for golf and a working knowledge of the game, ensuring a well-rounded guest experience that caters to both casual social players and avid golfers.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Social & Hospitality Management
- Drive revenue in simulator rentals, food and beverage sales, and league participation, ensuring an exceptional guest experience.
- Oversee and optimize event execution, simulator rental experiences, and leagues, creating a seamless social and competitive atmosphere.
- Recruit, hire, and train social and hospitality staff, ensuring they understand both the entertainment and golf elements of the venue.
- Implement high service standards and deliver genuine, enlightened hospitality that aligns with Five Iron Golf’s mission.
- Maintain knowledge of golf technology, game improvement programs, and simulator software to support guest engagement and cross-sell golf-related experiences.
- Foster relationships within the local golf and social community to attract new guests and build repeat business.
Golf & Entertainment Integration
- Ensure staff can educate guests on Five Iron Golf’s golf-related services, including simulator play, lessons, leagues, and memberships.
- Support league and event coordination by ensuring golfers and social guests have an engaging experience that encourages repeat visits.
- Work alongside the General Manager – Social and Golf Operations team to integrate golf-centric social events, such as golf-themed parties, casual competitions, and interactive golf entertainment.
- Assist in maintaining simulators, ensuring they are fully operational and delivering an authentic golf experience.
Operational & Financial Leadership
- Monitor and manage labor costs, inventory, and operational expenses to drive efficiency and profitability.
- Support the General Manager in understanding the P&L, sales strategies, and local marketing efforts to grow business revenue.
- Proactively engage guests during bookings and events, ensuring satisfaction and promptly addressing concerns.
- Maintain compliance with food and beverage safety regulations, including alcohol service and overall cleanliness.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hospitality management experience, with at least 1 year as an Assistant General Manager or General Manager.
- Strong leadership skills, with a hands-on approach to staff training and guest engagement.
- Passion for hospitality and entertainment, with a working knowledge of golf or a strong interest in the game.
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment while ensuring top-tier guest service.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and navigate stairs for extended periods.
- Ability to obtain proper licensing and certifications for the location.
